About this
Project
The client’s existing student information system faced several challenges impacting usability and functionality for key users, including mentors, guardians, students, and administrators. The outdated user interface (UI) did not meet modern standards, making navigation cumbersome and reducing overall user engagement. Additionally, limited tracking and student data management capabilities hindered efficient monitoring of student progress, restricting the application’s role as a centralized resource for student performance and curriculum management. Accessibility issues further limited the system’s effectiveness, preventing it from fully supporting diverse user needs.

To address the client’s challenges with their outdated student information system, Successive Digital implemented a comprehensive modernization strategy centered on revamping the front end to deliver a responsive, accessible, and user-friendly experience. Recognizing the limitations of the legacy system’s static and outdated interface, we re-engineered the front end using Angular, a dynamic JavaScript framework. This migration enabled a component-based architecture, supporting smooth, interactive features and a consistent user experience across devices. The design adhered to web accessibility standards, incorporating elements such as screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, and high-contrast modes to support diverse user needs.
Successive integrated Single Sign-On (SSO) with Okta to simplify access and improve security, allowing the client’s existing users of the Learning Hub platform to access the system through a single, unified portal, streamlining the user journey and enhancing accessibility across multiple platforms. While the focus remained on creating a highly functional front-end, the back-end was enhanced with a microservices architecture to ensure system modularity and scalability, along with an API gateway for secure, centralized data management.
The application was hosted on AWS, leveraging cloud-based infrastructure for real-time analytics, data storage, and serverless functions, ensuring scalable performance and reliability. The overall impact was a fully transformed student information system that provided a modernized, seamless experience for mentors, guardians, students, and administrators, effectively meeting current educational technology standards and enabling efficient data access across the board.
